Is there such a thing as short arse protective waterproof trousers? The issue I'm having is the protection is all in the wrong place as I'm only 5'2 but don't seem to be able to find anything for shorties other than Jeans. Be even better if there was a good shop in the midlands so I could try stuff on.

Ok, So this one's for me I suppose!  Thanks DAN!!!!

Short answer No!!! :(

i've always struggled with this and in the end I've never wore the knee protection e.t.c coz it's not much use at my ankle.

I wear draggin jeans (and will have to invest in a new pair this year) with textiles over the top in the winter, or i just have some thin waterproofs should i need it in the summer!

But for this year, as a certain person told me off advised me ( - he knows who he is  ) i should wear protection I have invested in some of these http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Produ ... ee-guards/ hips on the other hand, i'm still looking for something suitable, ideally something on a belt or something! :?: :?:

And then of course, find yourself a good dress maker to adjust the leg lenths e.t.c

Hope that helps!

Also I know wa you mean about the lack of shops in the Midlands, I've just ordered a load of stuff from http://www.getgeared.co.uk as there are the only online retailer i can find that offer free return post and doesn't charge you a 'handling' charge on returns.

Hope this helps! and Welcome!

Ruth, its definately worth buying some. My friend came off his bike the other year wearing Dragging jeans at 45mph. The bike fell onto his leg and trapped it pulling him down the road, which burst his knee cap open.. I gather from the weight of the bike and the friction of the road. In end he had to had 200 stitches inside and out to repair his leg. If he had armour it would have definately prevented some, if not most of the damage. Always worth wearing armour as clothing can only protect to a certain level.

Can't you buy some draggin jeans that fit you and have some padding sewn into pockets inside em. I wear Richa textiles that have knee and thigh pads in. I'm sure you can buy padding from Knox and sew em in yer own trousers

That sounds like a pretty good idea.

The protection in textiles is usually just a bit of armour in a sown in pocket. So if you make a little pocket in your jeans you should be able to get some armour which you can put in and have pretty good protection.

Another recommendation for J&S Northwich, they have a large ladies' dept which do trousers in different lengths, I got a couple from there (textile and leather). Dunno about waterproofs, they seemed to be in mens' sizes but I got a two piece which aren't that bad in the leg once you are sitting on the bike :D
