drive chain tensioner

I recently changed my chain and sprockets :)

Yesterday I noticed I hadn't tightened my chain enough, so I loosened the axle, pulled the wheel back and tightened it back up again with the torque wrench.

On to the chain tensioners (at each side) the one on the left was fine, the right one wouldn't go in, it seemed to be cross threaded. Eventually after trying for about 20 mins the bolt got stuck in the thread.I couldn't loosen it because the head had sheared off and the allen key could get no purchase on the bolt, so I've ordered a new set of drive chain adjusters complete with bolts.

What's involved in changing them over?

With back wheel just off the ground, you need to back the adjusters right off so that the chain is very slack and you can lift it off the sprocket and rest it on the swingarm. Remove rear spindle nut and washer and drift spindle slowly out of swingarm using an old , long screwdriver or metal bar. Support wheel on a piece of wood while you do this. As spindle comes out you may drop a spacer or two off the wheel, make sure you catch them and put em back the right way around and on the correct side. You may have the rear break carrier to catch as well. Once spindle out , put one adjuster on arm, thread spindle in , replacing spacer , brake carrier, wheel, spacer, other adjuster and chain as you do. If all ok, chain on sprocket etc, replace spindle washer and nut and tighten till just tight.

Now you need to tighten adjusters until chain nearly at correct tension, now check rear wheel alignment using marks on adjusters or as I do measuring centre of wheel spindle to centre of swingarm. When all is correct, both sides, adjust chain to correct tension, tighten spindle nut really tight and then tighten adjusters one last time.
