Waterproof trousers leaking at crotch....!

Just bought some "seam grip" to hopefully seal the seams around the crotch on my textile trousers. For it aint no fun going somewhere and having to sit there in soaking wet jeans, then put on soaking wet, cold textile trousers again to ride home. These things are only 4 months old, supposed to be waterproof..yeah right. Not amused to pay £150 and the damm things leak.

So anybody used seam grip and will it do the job ?, dont want to be paying out for another pair.

Never mind whether this stuff works or not, if I had a pair of supposedly waterproof trousers that were only 4 mnths old and leaked, I'd be straight back to where I bought them for a refund!

Under the sale of goods act, it sounds like they are not fit for the purpose for which they were sold/bought. Don't let them fob you off with an exchange - you are in the right and they can return the trousers to the manufacturers.

Some time ago another forum member had an almost identical situation & went back to the shop. If I remember he had to argue his case -even to the point of sitting in a riding position while they sprayed water on them! But they conceded the trousers were useless and he got a refund!!

A little problem with that, they were in the bargain bin, so I dont rate my chances on that idea.

I will be upgrading all my gear when I pass my test, for I most certainly want new "waterproof" trousers and new kit for the summer, something that is a lot cooler than this textile lot I have now, taken out the linings etc and I still cook.

Nikwax do a waterproofing agent that you wash in. Has worked well for me in the past!

I had some waterproofs that started to do that after about a year, a bit of Nikwax is all you neel, it's brilliant stuff

If it's easier to go with the waterproofing then try it

But the fact that they were reduced really makes no difference when taking them back. Yes, if you had changed your mind and just didn't like them. But the trousers are actually no good as waterproof trousers and therefore they are obliged to sort it out!
