Be much better to have it powder coated mate. They will blast it and the plastic coating will last a lot longer than paint!

^^^ Wot they said! :D

I have had situations where the blasting has removed huge areas of oxidised metal frm areas that I just thought were surface rusted, in one case producing a perfectly coated frame... that then needed blasting and coating again after a lot of welding.

If there are areas you are unsure of, rub them down first and get any welding done beforehand.

I am doing mine at home and striping the frame with a combination of rotary sanding drum (on the drill) and rotary Wire brush brass type.

this gets the metal to a polished shiney stage and gets into the welds then mix a paste of Oxalic acid or rust convertion onto the frame where there was rust previously and wash it all off after 18 hours (if you have a heat gun or blow torch use this to remove any moisture inside the metal before painting.

Then 2 heavy coats of Red oxide followed by 3 coats of high build primer and 2 coats of anti chip gloss black Acrylic.

or you can send it for sandblasting and powder coating if you prefer
