Should I be worried bout a set of tyres that have what looks like a blue bruise around both left and right of the middle of the tyre? What causes this?

You get blue where they've got warm then cooled

I'd say it's normal but I can't see the tyres

so don't take my word for it

Yeah, what Rennie said. It's the result of a heat cycle. Look at race tyres if you get the chance, shows you've been giving it some!!!

its all the natural oils in the tyre coming to the surface

when a tyre does this it looses its ability to grip as well as it could do but you will not notice on the road you would only notice if you was racing

its nothing to worry about :)

Blue tyres are a sign of overheating. Have you checked tyre pressures? Has the bike been overloaded?

If the tread is blue the compound will have hardened and could give reduced grip.

If the sidewalls are blue throw the tyre in a skip.
