Anything else is much inferior.

One 2nd thoughts, if you mean drive chain, then DID are good and produce many of the OEM chains in the 1st place.

Agreed.

Although i've not heard about or seen the Fleetwood's tested yet. :?

Personally I'd go for Almax. They are heavy and rather expensive, compared to most chains, but you want your bike to stand a vague chance of staying put don't you?

(If it was drive chain's wouldn't this have been put into pitstop? (just a thought))

Anyway... In that case DID it is, and try your best to get the X ring versions.

If you're referring to Colin's reference...

Mention that you were recommended on here and hopefully they'll throw in a free tailpack to carry it around in. Don't ever try to carry it in a rucsak!

They can be cut using an angle grinder easily enough. You can't crop any chain which is 16mm or more, so squire, almax and pragmasis will all be fine to stop all but professionals.

They can be cut with an angle grinder with relative ease. You can not cut the chain is 16 mm or more, squire, and pragmasis Almax are all beautiful, but to stop all professionals.

Any Thatcham rated and insurance company approved chain will do as all chains can be cut.

in theory you are correct but the one i am buying is impossible to cut without an angle grinder. with an angle grinder either me or the dog would hear and the game would be up and i wouldn't like to be in his position if the dog gets there before me

Would you seriously intervene if there are 2/3 guys with an angle grinder hammer etc?

My bike means a lot to me but at the end of the day its insured.

90 seconds is how long Almax believe their series 3 would last against professional thieves (i took it to mean against an angle grinder). This is far and away a superior time, and MORE than sufficient for anyone that keeps their bike within hearing distance. And anyone that doesn't? It wouldn't matter.

The important thing, is that it can't be beaten silently (by bolt cropper / hacksaw etc), unlike 99% of the motorbike chain market.

Colin, apparently you need to use an anvil too to break the almax with a sledgehammer. And it won't give up on first hit, as i'm aware.

Or not be able to afford to live, because of the increased cost of insurance premium
