Hi all,

Got a problem - my Bandit seems to be hitting rear hugger when we go over a bump or hit a bigger pothole if I take my missus as a pillion. I've already adjusted the shock to the second from the top value of the spring preloader adjuster. Is it just not designed to take 2 or is it a problem with shock ?

Alan (megawatt) would be better than me to answer... but here's my two penth(or whatever the saying is!!)

How do you feel on the bike height wise one up? Would you benefit from jacking the bike up?

If not I'm guessing you could turn the shock up so it's stiffer, but not sure thats the best way to go about it!?!?!

Maybe a new shock would be the answer, maybe from another bike....? Bandits and Sv's etc don't have the best suspension. I know you can fit the Gixxer shock into the SV, not sure about the bandit though!

I wouldn't mind jacking the bike up a bit as I have no problems holding bike with both feet firmly on the ground... How do you jack it up though?

Gixxers shocks seem to be suitable for Bandits - that is what I have heard too, but buying second hand shocks from ebay even for 50 quid isn't very reassuring :(

I seem to need to buy a jack up kit... :(

yup a jack up kit is what you want

a lot of people jack them up because of this problem

also adjust your pre load too so the shock doesnt bottom out :)

Thanks Ruthie, Yes either a jack up kit and /or yer shock is tired. Some Gixxer shocks will fit and a shorter one will jack the back end up. Dogbones come in 35 and 50mm jack up heights or buy adjustables for more money and set yer own height, Your shock may also be knackered, lost it's oil and/or gas. Check dimensions on your shock and buy a Gixxer shock with same bolt diam, width across fixings, spring diameter and a slightly shorter free length. Gixxer or Bandit Forum will say which is best.

a bit of googling brings up the gsxr1000 k7 shock will fit the 600 and the 07> hayabusa can fit too

I'm not the lightest (15 stone) and I took my mate on the back who was another 13 odd stone and we had no problems... I guess that your shock is F****d

I had a 600 and it was struggling two up to the pint of dangerous. I fitted a GSXR shock with remote damper, it also raised the back up at the same time. The handling was totally transformed, and adjustable. cant remeber year of GSXR but her's a pick of it installed. The remote is painted black attached to seat subframe.http://i926.photobucket.com/albums/ad106/Raptorchap/IMG_1953.jpg

As I remember there were no issues fitting it.
