Starting at Muff in the north near Londonderry/Derry I headed up to Carndonagh. The roads are great and I soon got used to the speed in kph. But the weather got worse and worse as the day went on, and after Letterkenny the roads were mixed between great and terrible and very challenging. The N56 is not for precious sports bikes and the diversion (due to a road accident) round by the Bloody Foreland on the R257 was even worse. I think the economy means various road schemes have been abandoned as kerbs were high and all that was left to was the resurfacing.

I was going to use the ferries at Greencastle and Buncrana, but the company closed down a week or so ago for the forseeable future.

The Bloody Foreland (where I was having to hold the bike up to stop it from being blown over)

I had been warned about the lack of petrol stations, but there were loads, and loads of nice places to stop for a break. It is maybe at night and on a Sunday that many will be closed.
