My dream garage would have a scooter in it and I would use it for popping down the shops, into town and commuting.

Supermoto for that :)

I don't like the look of them for a start & I would rather spend money on a bike than one of those up-market big scooters IMO

I think I still have my son's scooter in the attic! it was quite modern when i bought it for his 6th birthday (it had a heel activated brake).

I don't really understand most of the other posts in this thread - I think people are getting confuised and responding as though the question refers to motor vehicles (which it obviously does not [as this is a Motorbike Forum afterall!]).

So, with that in mind, I would prefer a bike (bicycle) as they have peddles and can go faster and can traverse rougher terrain (although some of the newer scooters have larger wheels with inflatable (?) tyres).

As to cost - You can get a scooter from around £20 and a bicycle from around £50 so it boils down to what you can afford (assume it will be a Christmas present for either one of your children or some one else's child).

All the best,

I once had some wisdom passed on to me:

"Riding a scooter is like riding a really fat bird. It's fun until your mates see you doing it."

It's not even fun while you're doing it! All sweaty and heavy breathing, tits on the floor, sloppy minge ... only ever when you've not had it for ages and it gets to the point where you just think, "Yeah, what the f*ck!" Now that's proper triple-bagger territory - one bag for her head, one bag for yours, and a bag of flour to find the wet spot. Then shower afterwards and perhaps vomit a little into your mouth because you can't get the images out of your head ...

I know it is not a scooter as such, but the DN-01 I saw is a magnificent beast. Is that what is on your avatar?

No.........my avatar is the Suzuki Strider.

I hoped they would put in into production....like the Honda Griffon too...but it never happened.

Still we have the Honda Integra to look forward too...............................................................................................Not!!!

I had a test ride on a DN01.

The trip was nice enough, it did most things ok.......but it was very lacking in the power dept.

It was a 2 wheeler that appealed to neither bikers or scooter riders.......not sure Honda had a idea of who would buy it.

But i think the nigh on £10,000 price tag killed it.
