donhuzayfa Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Received some restrictor washers today, after a tutorial I took off tank, then airbox, tried to get the carb off, and I couldnt so put EVERYTHING back, and started the bike, the choke started making the bike rev high, and the throttle would take a little bit long to get back to the idle position, then it switches off!I stupidly left the tank tap off, so turned it on, now the ignition started so I could switch it on, pressed the start button, but no start, like the battery was flat (I recharged it) and the fuse blew, funny because the spark came out, when I checked all fuses fine, now Im sooooo depressed, and basically pissed on myself, an easy job and I f***k it up, someone help me?!? Please? Quote
oslin06 Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Well, have you clamped a wire under the tank causing a short? re the carbs have you snagged a cable or dislodged one? also you do not say what bike it is ? i think you should take the tank off again and check everything.Keith Quote
donhuzayfa Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Thanks, will have to wait till tomorrow, it's too dark, sleepless night tonight. Quote
byangoma Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I find if i'm ever doing a job like this, that i'm not overly familiar with, i take photos as i go along so i can see where everything went. When i fitted my restrictor kit and put everything back together, my bike didn't start initially. I couldn't understand why. Then i remembered that the fuel tap was still in the off position Double check that this isn't the case - it's easily done! It would have run initially from any fuel left in the carbs, but then would stop and fail to start if there was no more fuel getting to it.If you are using a manual, you could always take everything off again and follow it in reverse steps to see if you missed an important cable or hose.Good luck at any rate Quote
Tango Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Yeah....I think oslin06 is spot on......youve trapped a wire under the tank or near the airbox......and the throttle cable routing is probably not right. All you can do is pull everything apart again and retrace your steps and look for trapped wires and if the throttle cable is getting hooked up on something when you put it all back together.Good Luck Quote
donhuzayfa Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Checked the fuel tap, replaced the fuses= bike comes on, but when the start button is pressed the fuse blows... Quote
Stu Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 sounds like you have a short somewhere a trapped wire on the starter relay or something have a good look around where you have been working Quote
