Best inner gloves

Ok, it was actually painful this morning riding to work as my hands were so cold. At one point i had to pull over and heat them up on the engine.

I know that heated grips are the answer, but i don't want to fit any on my bike, so my question is, for those of you who don't use heated grips what pair of inner gloves do you find work best?

i found this useful pdf link, reviewing some gloves, but just wondered what you guys use.

I'm currently using some thin running gloves as inners, but they just aren't good enough!

Can I ask, why don't you want to fit heated grips?

Kies do some heated inner gloves for about £50 and Oxford do some heated over grips that are not a permanent fit so they can be removed in summer time. Alternatively you can get some handle bar muffs. These fit over the bars and generally water and wind proof.

Because apart from the very basics, i leave the rest to the garage. I know putting heated grips on is suppose to be easy, but i just know something will go wrong

i've seen the Oxford heated over grips, interesting idea so will look in to that further. Handle bar muffs are a no go for me, heard too many bad reviews; like when travelling at speed (60/70mph) the bar muffs actually start to press on the brake lever!

Surgical gloves work well.

I have tried a number of pairs of inner gloves but I find my hands tend to get colder because they make my bike gloves tighter and restrict the blood circulation in my fingers.

I use silk gloves I bought off eBay, search 'silk thermal glove'. They were about £7 and are so thin you hardly notice you are wearing them and they made enough of a difference to make them worthwhile. On my last long trip my hands got cold, but not freezing.

They were also worked well keeping them on when I took my biker gloves off to do other stuff, so your hands stay a bit warmer then as well.

i have gortex gloves, which are fantastic , but cant have heated grips with them ( so I,ve heard)

I've got some Dainese winter gloves that are supposed to be wind proof but they're not. I wear silk liners underneath (used by pilots so try an army surplus store). My instructor said heated grips can actually make your hands feel colder? I have heated grips on one of my bikes but even they don't totally stop the cold but the silk liners do help alot even on my FZ1 which doesn't have heated grips.

Silk every time. Genuine silk mind. I have a balacalava too. Takes up hardly any room and works unbelievably well. Goodness knows why worms need lagging so well
