illvibetip Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 firstly, even after 2 years, Im still a complete newb so sorry for my ignorance...I wanted to clean the air filter today and when i took it out and looked in the air filter case (is that what its called?), i noticed there was fuel in the bottom of the case and some on the base of the air-filter. Is that normal or a problem? Thanks Quote

Personally I would look for any signs of leaks from fuel lines/tank that may have caused it to drip into the air-filter-box Quote
peejay1977 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 How much are we talking about? Fuel vapours can sometimes condense in the air box, I used to get it on both my old GSXR and my old ZX6R, both ran perfectly. Quote
Stu Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 is it fuel or oil its not uncommon to get oil mist in there from the crank case breather which can smell a bit like petrol although if you feel the consistency its much thicker Quote
illvibetip Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 its not a lot to be honest but but the bottom of the filter was wet. When i wiped it clean it was the colour of oil so i thought it may have been that. the fuel pipe is leaking slightly and im getting it changed today. So, you dont think theres a problem with the carburetors?thanks btw Quote
peejay1977 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I really wouldn't worry, that sounds normal to me. Quote
