Tankbag Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Well I thought it was the O ring in the banjo join on the right hand side ( as you sit on the bike ) an got a new one from Highway Suzuki but the damn thing is still dripping from that area So I guess I'll have to remove the oil cooler for inspection & go from there. Surely the oil cooler wouldn't rust / crack etc anyone had any thing like this happen, any ideas views are much appreciated. Quote

Tankbag Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 they can crack at the soldered/welded joints I know a few who have had similar problems Thanks, I think you may be right dude, I used the large lady technique spraying talc all over and looking for the damp spot, pic below, being as I used a new O ring I think it must be a crack at a weld as you say.http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa3/tankbag/leakresize.jpg Quote
Stu Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 my brother had a bandit that developed a leak just like that it turned out to be a crack where you screw the bolt inhe got a brand new one for pretty cheap off ebay Quote
Tango Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Had one rupture on a Trophy 900......basically it rotted through as it catches all the cr*p from the front wheel and the bike had been used year round and probably not washed that thoroughly. Anyway, got a used one of eBay and gave it a good treating and Hammeriting before fitting. Been OK since.... Quote

Opinions please, would you buy the aaron replacement oil cooler as above for 200 quid plus 10 postage or this one for 259 quid but it gives an extra 15 to 20 % cooling plus might make the bike more attractive if ever I sell herhttp://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa3/tankbag/ubercooler.jpgfrom http://www.banditmaniashop.co.uk/hel13- ... 1150-p.asp Quote

richard gee Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 i have a 2006 bandit gsf 1200 where the oil cooler hose connects to the engine is leaking i get oil misting on my left shin while riding any ideas? shall I just replace the hose? I did check it and it wasn,t really tight cheers Quote
iangaryprice Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I think the joint is sealed with O rings, if you are lucky new O rings should sort it. Other wise its a leaking pipe, the flex part (rubber) can perish or the steeel tubes/connectors can rust htrought. Give it a clean with Gunk or Jizer and allow to dry, then run engine to see where the leak is. If you can't work out where th eleak is, try replacingth eo rings (cheap fix) and see if it works. Quote
