mealexme Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Pads are getting a bit low, obviously knowing nothing about brakes, or mechanics I would like to ask a question or two.I dont use my brakes that often as I use engine braking coming upto corners, roundaouts, junctions, slowing traffic etc so the majority of my braking is only done if something unexpected happens, or I come to a junction that I need to stop at. So what are some decent (non racing - am I right in thinking they need to heat up to be fully effective?) brand names/typesand some that I need to stay away from. As I replace parts on the bike, I want to be upgrading rather than downgrading or even getting OEM parts Quote
Guest Hodgy Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 The standard pads on a Bandit will be organic (GG) If you want more stopping power sintered (HH) will do that, but will wear your discs very quickly. I like Carbon Lorrain pads best as they have the stopping power nearly as good as sintered but are much kinder to your discs, Ceramic pads too are a good compromise between GG and HH. Quote
Tango Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Yeah, the carbone Lorraine pads work well on my bike. Quote
gravelrashedaprilia Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 As above, but dn't be tempted with unknown makes from ebay etc, as they're lethal. Quote

pointblank0 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I always use EBC pads. Never had a problem with them, last for ages, and they're cheap! Quote
