roy1962 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Hi i own a suzuki bandit 1250s.i Have a feeling its using a lot of fuel.for instance went on a ride round wales today.covered 320 miles, had to fill up 3 times.total cost £45.i dont take it into the red.just normal riding.i have a power commander fitted with baffle out,was like this when i brought it,morrisons fuel prices.i have been told its using to much .thanks Quote
Stu Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 first thing I would do is tank to tank mpg and not guestimates then compare it to other bandit 1250 owners no point guessing as you could still have 15 litres of fuel left in the tank from th 3 fill ups! Quote
rushwind Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 £45 for 320 miles seems ok?, that s roughly 160 miles/18 litres?, comparable to my bird'sconsumption#, tho u do hav lesspower so maybe expect more mpg Quote
Weebl Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Presuming you had the same in the tank at the start and at the end, so the whole 320 miles was the £45 you spent, and the average price of a litre was £1.35 ish, then you bought and used just over 7 and a quarter gallons. That makes the calculations about 44 MPG. Which is not brilliant but not bad either? What is it supposed to get?All this of course is rubbish if you started with a full tank and used that AND the £45 worth. Quote

pointblank0 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 It is a big engine though mate. My bike gets arund 160 miles to a tank (18 litres), which isn't far off what your getting out of yours, and mines smaller, and probably slower too! Quote
Tango Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I think the trip computer on mine is saying 46mpg.....which ain't bad really. The Bandit is a heavy bike.....so I would have thought mid-40's wasn't bad at all..... Quote
Boro Jake Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 320 miles at 45 quid is probably about right for a bandit. Quote
TC Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Thats probably about right for riding around Wales. The roads are quite twisty so you will be using lower gears and higher revs coming out of the corners, Plus Wales does have a few big hills as well. Quote

chalkmyster Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 You can always check http://www.Fuelly.comI know its a different bike I get 170 - 230 out of my GSF 600. Quote
Tango Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Filled the ST up today.....was down to around 1/4 tank........158miles = £19's worth @ 1.36/litre.....can't be bothered to do the maths but the trip computer reckons average of 46mpg at the moment which sounds about right.I don't know what size tank the 1250 has on it.....but if you filled 3 times to get £45 worth of fuel in you're either not brimming it or the fuel warning light is coming on very early...... Anyway I guess you got your answer earlier....this was just an academic exercise..... Quote
Chrissb6 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I would go with the rest, 40mpg ish mpg sounds about right its a big upright bike with no fairing so not slippy. A day touring going up and down the box will drop it further than that l would think. What gets my goat is that l have just come back from a touring holiday in Europe camping with the car. The car was loaded to the gunnals with 4 of us and camping gear the 3lt diesel returned 37mpg. Quote

Hoover Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 what you worried about, my zrx11 gets about 25mpg and my old 1200 bandit was the same, bandit used to do 100 miles to the tank and has been as low as 82 miles, same on the zrx.if the tank is empty fill it up and ride, don't worry about fuel consumption on a bike just ride it.
