It takes a mobile phone sim card to send your bikes location... unfortunatly, ive not had any spare time to do anything with it yet as the Mrs has had me insulating and boarding the loft out all day, and i'll be up there tomorrow too...

Though i would post a pic anyway to show how tiny it is!!

Joeman, do you text it or something for it to report back its position ? I'm interested in getting one of these. Ta

Something like that yes, instructions are really bad Chinese/English translation and ive only flicked through them quickly, but im planning to buy a sim card for it tomorrow and give it a try. There's also a web site that lets you see the location on a nice Google map and logs where the vehicle has been. you can then download the log, give you milage reports and a bunch of other location reports - It all looks pretty good, but no use without SIM card!!

Only cost £4.19 + £7.99 P&P so worth a punt - Will keep you posted when i get it working!

Hi,

can you pm me website, and ebay link on this :)

I took it apart to see what was inside and I CANT SEE A GPS MODULE!! I could be wrong, but i would hold off buying one just until i can get mine working and confirm one way or another.

It won't use a GPS tracker, it will use the mobile phone masts to triangulate position. Cheap and easy but not as accurate as GPS.

Yes, certainly no sign of a GPS module, and I've identified most of the chips in there

, and none are gps chips! One side of the board is power supply components and the other side has an Arm GSM modem and associated support chips..

Gutted..

Text messages from the device contain cell id, not GPS coordinates so even though its labelled and advertised as a GPS tracker, its only capable of notifying you which mobile cell its currently in.

Coo! a great bit of technology from China for just over 4 quid! to protect your expensive bike. Just don't tell the insurance company or your next :D payment may go up!

I'm not sure about GPS tracking.......my company has fitted trackers in all the engineers cars (including mine) and I've heard that in the event of an accident the Police can demand tracking information to determine speed etc..... Not sure if this is true.....but I've heard it from several sources.....verbal sources....before anyone starts demanding links.....

well if they can get tracking info from this GPS device, good luck to them - i certainly cant, because it doesn't actually contain any GPS tracking hardware!!!!

think its a classic case of Chinese badly translated to English... :(

I think it's a case of your company happily handing it over, I've been told any evidence of erratic driving leading up to an accident will be used against me and I may face disciplinary and/or be made to pay for any damages. Why do their own investigation when the police will do it for free. Besides Police only get involved if someone is hurt.

Makes no odds if your driving like a cock or sensible they still have to hand it over by law as it is evidence same with CCTV
