Throttled Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 One step too far unfortunately, as I slid on mud on the south Lock Tay road after doing the Falls of Dochart. I was going to go to the big hedge at Blairgowrie next, but another time. I got help after my spill herehttp://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Revi ... otlan.htmlso if you are going that way, they do a super coffee and are very biker friendly.
Stu Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 bugger throttled not good hope theres not too much damage
Throttled Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks Stu. I am battered and bruised having slid on my front along the road on the mud. The pannier cover, handguard, screen and one bit of the fairing need replacing, estimate £200 as I ahve the original screen. The crash bung and bottom of the front fork should be recoverable so long I don't mind (which I don't) minor scratches still showing. It was a beautiful day, still that point!
Stu Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 hope you get it all sorted this is one of the reasons I ride in summer and thats it! its all too easy in this weather with the roads the way they are
priest Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Stu, i am afraid Bodiam marker is in the wrong location. currently it points to Hurst Wood while Bodiam is around 2 miles south in Bodiam village
Stu Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 cheers priest I will pass that on to TC as he has access to the map and can alter the markers
priest Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 cheers Stu, Herne Bay marker also should be moved ~1mile east to Beacon Hill and Canterbury Rd junction, i believe:)
Stu Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I have sent TC a pm as he has the map so will see what he comes up with
TC Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 cheers Stu, Herne Bay marker also should be moved ~1mile east to Beacon Hill and Canterbury Rd junction, i believe:) Hi Priest thanks for pointing these out. I will get them changed asap. Some of the markers aren't on top of the the exact place, but are give or take a mile(ish) from them. Adds to the fun and challenge of planning your rideout and trying to find them when you get there. Like the memorial stone at 'Rest and be thankful' in Scotland.Hope you enjoy the challenge this year.
priest Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 cheers TC, i actually am planning the trip till the very end, so if i am not sure where the place is i won't start )
gordon276 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Well git the ball rolling with Carterbar and Mr Hislop was a good run even if it was a bit chilly
Throttled Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I plan to do the north west next week. Tuesday will be home to do the various passes and find somewhere to stay in the Lake District. I figure this time of year there should be no problems just turning up, so long as I have a bed and a bar I don't mind. Next day Settle down to Bollington and again find somewhere to stay. Next day Jordrell Bank, Southport and then head home, stopping if I feel like it and doing some Borders tags.
Throttled Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Wanlockhead and the mining museum is on the map as a tag, but not on the list for Scotland.
TC Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Wanlockhead and the mining museum is on the map as a tag, but not on the list for Scotland. Cheers Throttled sorted now Let us know when you are thinking of doing the lake district tags
Throttled Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 The plan is Tuesday coming, the 5th. Ride down aiming for Keswick about 12 and then doing the passes finishing in Windermere and finding somewhere to stay the night.
Mk5Centurion Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 The tag for Glen Coe - should it be the King House Hotel instead of the Kings Head?I'd better register again this year - looks like another good 'un!

Throttled Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Thanks for that suggestion, it would be nice to end the day there.
Throttled Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Did the 5 Passes today. Hardknoft Pass is bonkers mental. I thought riding round the highlands and up to applecross would prepare me for this part of the trip. But that was very hard work and I did it at about 5 to 10 mph the whole way. I would hate to do it in anything other than perfect conditions. If you make amistake you could be in serious trouble. The rest was fine and fun. Did not stop at Kirkstone as there abunch of nutters getting bevvied up outsode, so now in Windermere in a b&b.
Throttled Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Tomorrow I head south to what is commonly refered to as oop north. I will change my helmet for a flat cap snd need to find a whippet to blend in.
Throttled Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Did the moorcock inn and the dales in dense fog. The ribble viaduct was a shape in the distance but the roads are great, even with the mud and speed traps. I see men with cloth caps have been replaced with ladies in burkas in Blackburn. I ended up in someones driveway to get a photo of thw White Nancy. Arrived at Jodrell Bank minutes after it closed but it is a spectacular site and the road past it is great. Now in a pub in Southport a street away from the carousel. Do I get a nice logo for my signature for the North West?
Throttled Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Lancashire has more speed traps than the whole of Scotland. I stayed off the motorway as much as I could on the return trip, the A6 over Shap is superb.

I reckon thats the only position to photo White Nancy from, within a reasonable distance, maybe i should get up there before the residents start to complain!!!
