mr1 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Hi fellas, haven't been on for awhile and need a bit of help! Right just bought my son a gilera DNA 50cc that's had a 70cc kit fitted and it has a standard exhaust ,when I rode it it feels slow and hangs back a bit,was told by the bloke I got it from that it could do with a bigger jet, would this help and if so what size would I need to get :-S Quote
Tango Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I'd pull the plu and check the colour of it first mate......if it's white then maybe it does need a bigger main jet......but it could also just need a service.....air filter, new plug, etc....... Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 but of course if he is only 16 then he shouldnt be riding a 70cc bike Quote
mr1 Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 thank chaps,he is only sixteen but it looks totally standard and I only managed to get 44 mph out of it,I know it's still wrong but I think 30 mph is dangerous Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 i think most of us would agree but not condone it as well to be fair im glad i never had that problem Quote
Joeman Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 thank chaps,he is only sixteen but it looks totally standard and I only managed to get 44 mph out of it,I know it's still wrong but I think 30 mph is dangerous Riding with no licence, no road tax, and no insurance... well dont, you're setting your own son up for a world of pain, lost licence and a whole bunch of points, and he's probably too innocent to fully understand the consequence of his actions. It seems your parenting skills are about as good as your mechanic skills... Ricky Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 +1 A 50cc two stroke with an upgraded bore kit...Unless you want it to last about 2 minutes go ahead but I reckon he fitted it f**ked up and tried getting rid of it to you..Or as usual I'm wrong I don't condone upgrading a 16 year olds bike because like myself will be an idiot revving the guts off it and destroying it... It'll be an accident waiting to happen.Oh and it's illegal too...I've heard the police don't take to kindly to teens riding illegal bikes on the road. Quote
Fozzie Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Give your son the bike and a manual... Leave him to it.It's what my dad did with me If you need to be taught in a class room rather than able to sit down and learn it, you shouldn't try to mess with your bike. Quote
