I have a SYM JET BASIX 50cc SCOOTER.

looks more like a fuel pump to me its certainly not an air filter

I didn't think it was, my dad just suggested to me it could me.

Could it be where the oil drips into the fuel ? because it is a 2 stroke engine.

Looks more like an Oil breather catch tank??

Collect the hot oil fumes and condense them back into oil..

its not the air filter, thats on the other side

Looks like a wire wool filled catch tank to drain oily fumes out of the air filter box/and or the crankcase breather. Be nice to find out what it's connected to ?
