cookiemonster
When i got my bike, the tachometer didn't work.Looked in the cable and i noticed the bit that spins inside was missing.I got a replacement yesterday and connected it to the engine, checked that it did spin, which it did then connected it to the clock.Nothing happened..So i whipped it off to find that the brand new inner cable had been chewed up! So im guessing that's why there was no cable in there when i brought it,but why the hell would the clock chew up the cable?
Bogof
why the hell would the clock chew up the cable? If the clock is jammed solid the cable will attempt to spin and go into self-destruct.
eastanglianbiker
sounds like the tacho has seized in the clock itself put a small screwdriver up into the drive and see if it turns

Roadtorque
might be that the cable drive had not located into the clock correctly, check that the two drive ends mate together properly,
