Hi all, had to take my fuel pipe off this morning due to it becoming kinked and bogging the bike down. My bike has a fuel tap (not entirely sure if all bikes have them lol) so before taking it off I turned the tap off. However it didn't stop the fuel flow and ended up having to use a old rag to mop up the spillage. Is this a major issue as I remember being told that if fuel drips into the carb it can leak into the engine. Personally I don't get that, isn't that what the carb overflow pipe is for? Either way just wondered if some one could tell me how big an issue this could be, not sure how long its not been working obviously, so could of been like it for months and its been fine. Thanks in advanced.

No real issue but, if you can source a replacement washer (internal rubber thingy), then worth replacing it.

Otherwise, a new fuel tap should not cost a lot and is easy to fit.

Yeah I will change it, just wanted to know how serious an issue to see if I needed to sort it right now. Not sure how easily it is to source parts for my bike yet ha. Cheers for the response mate

Trouble is.....if the float sticks in the carb you could end up emptying a tank of fuel all over the floor......

FleaBay could be your friend here......and Chinese bikes often use common parts.....so you may find that a fuel tap for another Chinese bike will fit yours......but you'd need to check carefully before buying.....

I found the same happened on my NSR, I just turned OFF to the ON position and it stopped might be worth a try before you spend any money.

It's usually the rubber that's perished in the tap that causes this

Have a look to see if you can get a rebuild kit for it

Have been looking with no success as yet. Don't suppose anyone knows what could possibly be an alternative, I've read that my engine etc are Suzuki like... code is ga125f if that helps :/
