stumblebum Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I lived in Devon for a bit, some great places to ride to out on Dartmoor. I would quite often ride down to Fowey in Cornwall purely for the pasties! (No I'm not a chubber....honest!) Quote
Tango Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Have a look at the UK Challenge 100.......there's some tags down that way that may be interesting to collect...... Also have a look in the Ride Report section mate.....there's threads in there from guys that have done various trips to Europe.....so there may be information that could be useful to you when weighing up whether you fancy a trip a bit further afield...... megawatt Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I've done Normandy and the Ardennes a few times. Gimme a shout if you want some info. I'm not far from the channel ports if you want to break your journey. Quote
JamBerryKing Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I did sheffield to Cornwall many times. it was a long boring ride down the motorway though. but the roads around cornwall are good fun! Quote
Guest Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 My first real trip was to Mugello, Italy with a mate to watch Rossi at the MotoGP. My mate booked the hotels making sure of secure bike parking, I booked the tunnel and race tickets and mapped the route via Garmin Streetpilot. All costs shared. We rode the autoroutes and paid the tolls. We were both on Yamaha Thunderaces with Oxford luggage.Brilliant trip riding from early on a Wednesday (04:45) to Macon, then Milan, then to Florence. Left there on the Monday morning to go to Lyon, then Tuesday to Riems, then home on the Wednesday.Go and have a great time. Quote

Tango Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I did a lot of the tags in Wales last Whitsun on my own.......apart from one day when it rained and was as windy as hell the rest of the time was great...... I camped one night in a campsite attached to a pub in Snowdonia.....then (due to getting soaked) decamped to a guest house in Barmouth for a couple of nights....and then to a pub with rooms in Tenby for one night...... Great roads over there....and fantastic scenery...... Quote
DreamytimeEscorts Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I've done Ireland and France. Cornwall can be a hoot too, especially when you get off the main roads. Quote

Grumpy Old Git Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The SW tags get you into the general area for good roads - If you are 'sightseeing' as well, I can recomend Port Issac, Fowey (pronounced 'Foy'), Polperro and the Lizzard as 'must see' places.'B-Roads' across Bodmin, Exmoor and Dartmoor are generally good (but watch out for 'grockles' and sheep as well as the 'emmets').Coastal roads tend to get clogged up with traffic during summer months making riding difficult. For really good roads and stunning scenery, then head off into Wales (again check out the Challenge 100 Tags).
