Help with finding correct parts (newbie)

Hi i have registered today in the hopes that someone can point me in the right direction, i have been having real trouble finding the correct fastners and nuts/bolts for my bike. i currently have completely rounded of a couple of tt25 (screwdriver size) nuts/flanges on my exhaust and my front sprocket drive chain.

i cannot for the life of me find out where to get these except for one company. who appear to be charging 2.20 for 1 screw/nut.

i cannot find the correct sizing for these nuts/flanges i have found part numbers but cannot find where to order them ect. basically i am having a real bad time identifying how to find the correct sizes if i where to buy these nuts by myself from like ebay.

my question is should i just buy them where i have found them which would rack up about 10 pound for 4 nuts/screws or is there another means of identifying exactly what these damn things are!

i have a haynes manual (service) 09 i cannot find it in there and i also have a workshop Yamaha genuine parts guide there not in there either

i got as far as working out that there m6??

with a TT25 hex?

the exhaust nuts flanges have a slight ridge to them whereas the front sprocket bolt flanges appear to be round.

you guys have any advice how did you go about it when you where in this situation. i was tempted to get the nuts of and then go look for them but then if i cant find them at screwfix or something id b screwd! lewl.

are these things not standard?

Hi there,

I had the exact same problem last year when I counterthreaded a screw holding the side panel over my two stroke tank in place. Yam main dealers wanted £4 for one bolt and I got bounced between tonnes of phone numbers with nobody actually willing to order one in for me. In the end, I realised the bolt was long enough for me to just sand away the damaged part and it worked.

In terms of avoiding the hefty charge main dealers pass on, I don't know that you're going to have any luck with it. Best thing to do would be to search something like "exhaust retaining screw for (your bike)" into Google.

Alternatively, search for your bike on www.wemoto.com They tend to have every part you could ever need and usually they are the best price I can find.

isn't there a parts site somewhere? got lings Honda that lists the bolt size. m9 x 6 for example. I then order a bulk lot off eBay or ring Yamaha main dealer and ask for the bolt description. if it's described as special you have to order off Yamaha or eBay. £2.50 is the going rate from a dealer.
