littlecat Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 k, so last years MOT on my newly acquired cbr had an advisory for a 'slight blow' on the exhaust ( bloody understatement of the year , lol ) .the downpipes are mainly rust , held together with more rust, and recently developed a good size hole right where they meet the engine, on 2 of the pipes.the long term plan is a full set of stainless, but for now I have repaired them , am just wondering if that'll suffice for the mot, there is more gum than metal...but its not currently blowing. Mr Fro Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 So long as it doesn't blow there shouldn't be a problem I think.May I also recommended reinforcing it with a bit of beer can and a jubilee clip. Quote
Stu Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 gum wont last long at all cat it shrinks and just falls out hopefully it holds to get you through the MOT I have done many repairs with an old can and jubilee clip on cars before Quote
rennie Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Depends where you take it for the MOT I suppose! exhaust repairs very rarely last long! Quote
littlecat Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 I don't expect it to last very long, but its just been done and the mot is this Saturday.couldn't do any kind of wrapped repair as its right at the end Quote
