Glad you got the bike back, when you get the chance give the bike and his "work" a good check. Better to be safe than sorry.

if the bike was just left outside and he has done the mot on it did he leave invoice with it as well or any kind of note about charges ?

Nope. I sent him a msg on Facebook last friday asking for an invoice, he said he'd email me one. That was fine. Still haven't received it, so went on FB to msg him a short while back only to find his FB page gone. Sent him a text and got this back:

Hi gayle sorry i have had to close fb down and stop working on bikes due to being reported for working from home. i can't give any invoices out as can't have the risk of it getting into wrong hands not saying you would but somebody has. all i can do is list what was done to bike im affraid[sic] but nothing regarding prices etc

So I have handed him £x in good faith and he is now refusing me an invoice.

Frankly I couldn't care less about his personal circumstances, and if he has been doing something illegal than hell mend him. I just want an invoice! I will contact citizens advice (if I can get through to them) and ask if I can demand an invoice.

Just tell him to issue a invoice or your going to royally **** him up with a call to hmrc.

Working from home shouldn't cause a issue with regards to a invoice, working for cash and not declaring it dose.

Wow. So you took a bike in for a service and MOT and it took two months to get it back?

That's insane.

Hope its working alright now and you are able to enjoy the late summer weather. I felt frustrated being off the road for 4 days with the bike in MY garage let alone it being in somebody elses!

3months (22nd may - 22nd august).

I don't know yet, went to start it and the battery was completely flat so I need to bring it in and charge it.

Think I'm going to just tell him I insist on an invoice. I already have invoices from when he had my other bike (for 2 months) and last year also. Might just tell him he takes the risk of giving me an invoice and it getting into "the wrong hands" (the right hands, surely!) or guarantee that one of my previous invoices does as well as evidence of the fact that I have paid him for the most recent work...

Even better. That's a invoice that he might not of put through the books.

The guys took the piss, still is. Don't give him a inch.

So he's done this to you before??

Why did you use him again??

The bloke sounds a real idiot. Would be careful making threats - no telling what he might do!

Only with the gsxr this year (and I sort of put that down to we didn't actually know the extent of work that would be required to get it through its mot after having sat sorn'd for the last 2-3yrs), we used him last year for the vfr and the speed four and had no problems (wasn't quick, but not this slow either and communication was good throughout). If he'd done this last year I'd never have went back to him. A lot of my local MCC use him also and he is/was highly recommended.

You are never going to get that invoice - someones shopped him for working whilst on Benefits I reckon; so he is hardly going to hand more evidence out is he?

I would take the bike to a decent garage before riding it any distance or speed though - gods knows what he may have cobbled together on it

Will you be naming this mechanic?

I can name you one in Paisley who I can guarantee, as your truly is his able assistant and tea maker :D
