Bike battery to iPhone 4

I'm thinking of getting this to run the Sat Nav on my iPhone 4S. It has very good reviews.

Has any forum member got one, if so what do you think?

Yeah I have one - great job. Just be sure and get the hard case for the phone. The soft case is pretty poor tbh. I use mine for sat nav too using the Copilot App. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/03/azamyhe4.jpg This was a mirror stem mount that I adapted and mounted to my dash.

I've got a tank bag with a see through pocket on the top so I'll put the Phone in there.

Why not get a 12v socket with an inline fuse and switch then you can use it for anything with a usb cable. And they're a lot cheaper

That's what I did, but need to either add a switch wire with the ignition!

Sorry....just seen this thread. I had one of those chargers on the Sprint.....water got inside and the thing wouldn't turn off....luckily the Sprint had an accessory socket so I could unplug it....

This is what I use now.....hard wired to the battery, but is intelligent....only switches on when you connect the phone and switches itself off when the phone is charged.....the thing is potted, so no water can get inside.....been on my bike 2 years now and still going strong.....

I can now get rid of my Car cig adapter which has a USB adapter in that and was just growing in size all the time.

can it be charged from a USB?

if it can.. then an always live socket is far handier.. not only can it be used for charging your device - it can also be used for other things, most notably topping up the battery without need to directly access it.

My bike has one already fitted.. and with a USB plug - that was all I needed to keep my iPad topped up for the two weeks I was touring/camping in the south of France, Austria, Italy and Slovenia back in May.
