High beam shape all wrong

Sorry third thread complaining about my crappy headlight, since swapping it with a halogen its a little brighter but the high beam pattern is like mushroom shaped, which isn't helping anything. The low beam is fine. but the high beam has two pretty substantial dark spots. I'll try grab some pics when it's dark to demonstrate.

Only thing I can think of is the little "cap" on the halogen, I know the light at the tip isn't meant to be useful but could that be it?

There's no adjustment on the reflector besides physically angling the assembly up and down.

Had a mess about and can confirm theres no way ive put the bulb/anything upside down. Tried my spare bulb (Same type) but still the same result.

Hmmmm......looks like your headlight could do with coming up a bit if that's high beam.......but it also looks like your reflector or lens is a bit iffy......would have expected a bit more spread of light than that.....

Not sure about the LED bulb.......could make things worse looking at it...... :?

It's hard to tell in the pics but there's a steep slope at the end of the drive that makes it look a bit closer than it is on the road but it probably does need lifting up a touch, it's a pita fiddling though.

I'm pretty stumped on how to take the reflector apart to investigate :(

Maybe a new headlight assembly, and switch to h4 while I'm at it then?

Theyre the ring automotive ones, they are recommended and ive heard of others using them without this issue...

Do you reckon i could drop in one of these?

Providing i can actually get the metal trim off the old lamp.

Heres what my beams like on the road, pretty unnerving on unlit b roads.

Yeah.....your beam pattern is pretty crepe.......

That light unit on eBay looks pretty good.......the only prob you may have is the connector to the bulb......but it's fairly easy to swap over to the right one...... 8-)

Having had a quick look at your beam pattern it looks like the headlight is the wrong way up  Is it fixed into the fairing should it have one or just the round head light unit :bang: Even if it's a round headlight they can normally only go one way as the adjusters are at the bottom of the unit and screws are offset to stop that happening :crybaby: The next step would be get another bike beside yours and see how the beam compares with that :thumb: I'm sorry I can't be more help but it might give you some insight :thumb:
