cockercas Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Plates on a 2005. My phones flat but as soon as I charged it up il do a plate check and tell you. Quote
Stu Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 plate only donates when it was registered this is why they ask for chassis number My TL was a 97 model registered in 98 so was on an R plate plus it depends on when i ducati updated the bike too it could have been for august 2005 and his could have been registered before then it can be a right pain in the arse when its crossover year! cockercas Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 I got the bike tonight. Checked stack hight and its ok. Google threw up 38mm and 36.5mm. Tride both. 36.5mm dosent get you out of nutral. Re bled the system and no air come out. Checked the plate bearing and thats free. And the problem is still there. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Also did some digging as this issue has intrigued me!The build up of the plates and the stack height is good. The plates are all flat (you checked). The only things that leaves are:1. The clutch is overheating with use and plates are warping causing the clutch to partially engage.2. There is still air in the system which is allowing the pressure to 'creep' down. if possible tie the clutch lever fully in overnight (it may work). Even better if you can borrow a vibration plate and leave the bike back wheel sat on this overnight.Otherwise I have no further ideas. Quote
cockercas Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Any ideas are good. What would cause the clutch to heat up like that? Quote
Pete Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I read somewhere recently about bleeding the brakes on a BMW GS and sometimes air can get trapped in the master, so leaning the bike this way and that frees it up.Long shot but could work? Quote
cockercas Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Im 100% sure theres no air in the system. Quote
Stu Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 one thing that makes it overheat and expand is it not clearing properly and the plates dragging this makes everything expand and warp and makes it worse until it cools down again Quote
Tango Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I take it that you're getting full movement on the slave? Quote
cockercas Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 I assume so tango, how would I check? Clutch works fine when it's just in and out. It's just like it can't maintain pressure when the clutch is pulled in. Quote
Stu Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 tie the lever back over night and in the morning with the clutch still pulled stick it in gear and see if you can push it you may be losing pressure the fluid could be bleeding back through the seals Quote
cockercas Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 I've just text him that stu. Il update again tomorrow. Thanks to all that's commented so far. Quote
