cockercas Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 This will be like death wobble on my car. A number of things can contruibute to making it.If they look like they need changing then change them. Quote
cockercas Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 death wobble You hit 45/7 mph and the car try's to flip itself. Only at that speed though lol. I'm going to try and pre load the bearings with some shims because when I fit my oversized mud terrain tyres it dosnt happen. Quote

No I don't think so, never checked tbh. But it's been there since I owned it.It's quite a common fault on them. Can be caused by a few things and on some of the jimny forums people have replaced everything and it's still there. Il check the wheels when I swap to MUDs soon. Quote

Are the weights still attached? Quote

RantMachine Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 The term "Death Wobble" just sounded so funny to me Not laughing at your impending doom, I assure you! Quote
Fozzie Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Sounds bearing related if messing with them fixes it!But it only happening at a certain speed is a bit odd Usually the balance is out badly when that happens. Quote
fq-craigus Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Have you looked at the universal joints on the prop shaft? Are they all lined up because if they arnt you will get a feedback through that and it eont be cured by anything but removing and re aligning splines correctly. Long shot i know but worth a check Quote
cockercas Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Pre loading the bearings should sort it, putting the bigger tyres on puts extra loads the bearings and it dissapears then. It means the life of the bearings is shorter but i change them in the summer. Usually dirt and water can get pushed by the seals when greenlaning. When i swapped the bearings over last time the swivel joint felt abit slack so prelading them should stiffen them up. I dont need a thread, or have a bent wheel. You can delete this if you want. Stu Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 sounds to me like the kingpin bearings could be shagged Quote
