So, I've had my rear tyre replaced because of a puncture after 5 months of use, and then another one a month later but now I suspect the front has one too. The best way to test it really would be to put it in water, so the question is, will taking it off and putting it in the bath tub do any damage to the bearings or anything?

And to put it back on, would it be a simple case of wiping with kitchen towel and smearing with copper grease?

Just working out jobs for tomorrow

Taking the tyre off??? What is this madness - just spray some water + washing up liquid around the tyre, that will show ya ;)

Can you not leave it on the bike and bring the water to it?

I'd rather stick it on the stand and get a washing up bowl/similar under the wheel than take the thing off. :-)

sorry, put the whole wheel in water

Ive tried the water on it, but it just runs off, especially out of the treads, where the last puncture was

Also, it rules out the valve leaking

you dont need to submerge the whole wheel just the bottom of the wheel to cover up to just above the tyre bead watch and slowly turn it in the water that way you dont get the bearings wet

Mix water and washing up liquid together and spray that on.

Pump the tyre up f it's lost pressure.

Cover the valve with it to.

If airs comming out there will be bubbles.

Also, buy yourself a tyre plugging kit. The way roads are left uncleaned nowadays will end up getting very expensive replacing the tyre each time.

yup :'(

Alright, thanks guys, I'll try the washing up liquid, and if that fails then I'll just submerge it partially. I really hope its not punctured. I've already spent over £500 on tyres in the past 6 months :/

Really ?

I have z tyres on my z and have plugged the front one because it picked up a screw slap bang in the middle of the tread. I understood the only thing preventing a hole being repaired is if it wasn't within the middle part of the tyre ?

Plenty of washing up liquid and it womt run off too quick, use a squirty bottle. If fails like already said lift feomtwheel and submerge past the rim in water and turn it

I never knew that either. What's the reason you can't plug them?
