mealexme Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Whats the best way to get rid of old coolant? My local tip only takes oil, so thats not an option. I have heard people claim that their local water company has told them to flush it down the toilet as long as its not a regular thing, as the treatment plants will neutralise small amounts without a problem. Obviously, this sounds a bit dodgy to me though, so can anyone confirm/deny this? Also, wth do you do with brake fluid? Mix it with the oil and hope the tip doesn't realise? Quote
fullscreenaging Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Try your local garage. It might cost you a couple of quid, but at least you know you've done the right thing. The only way to find out if what others have said is true is to contact your local water board. I think your suspicions are right though. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 i just tip them all in together and pour them into the oil banks and waste sites Quote
fq-craigus Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Take it to a local garage and give them a few quid as coolant disposal costs garages. Your right dont tip it down the sink or drain, and dont leave in an exposed container in the garden while you are working out what to do with it i lost a cat through all biet malicious but still antifreeze poisoning just before xmas Quote
