Glorian Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Went out to my bike this morning, excited to get back on it and as i open the cover i smell fuel... "Probably just a little left over from where i put it back on last night"NOPEMy entire tank all over the floor (£20 down the drain yay) the clip (Similar to a jubilee clip?) had decided it didnt want to hold on anymore and smother my bike in lovely fuel.. Well one of the engine casings needs repainting now lucky me..but my entire engine inside was soaked in it, So i was planning on letting it dry before i use it to avoid burning to death.. But should i wash it out with anything? SOme form of degreaser? or a bucket of hot water poured down inside? Thoroughly annoyed that i fix one issue i get a worse one! Quote
RantMachine Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Dear god almighty we really DO have the curse of the Chinese bike!!A fuel hose comes loose and drowns my bike in petrol, then my chain gives up the ghost.Days later, your chain gives up the ghost, and then a fuel hose comes loose!I'm going to continue advocating a pilgrimage to the Chinese bike factories to burn them down and end the nightmare I had it a bit lighter; mine came loose while riding, so I was aware of it VERY QUICKLY And also my tank is incapable of emptying itself via gravity, so it stopped doing it as soon as I killed the engine. I soaked up any remaining petrol on the bodywork with some rags, gave it a little bit of time for anything left to evaporate off, then gave all the areas that were splashed a thorough wipe with some damp and slightly sudsy cloths and left the cover off next time it rained to be extra certain.That clip is... not sounding very substantial! I know that my pump and injector mean I need a much more sturdy clamp than your carbs, but... my Lexmoto fuel hose had a jubilee clip and it barely did that job on that bike (didn't actually have to release it to disconnect the hose from the carb, just give a gentle tug - very reassuring), replaced it with a worm drive clip.Sorry to hear your luck is as crap as mine Quote

Gonna get a hot soapy sponge and my foreceps and get in to clean most of it off then let it dry i think! Quote

RantMachine Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Right then, it's a plan:Here is the route, just shy of 7000 miles to get from Dover to He Ping Lu in China - home of Jinan Qingqi, original manufacturer of the Sinnis Cafe and Lexmoto Lowride.Google reckons we can get there in six days if we ride without stopping, and as far as I can tell the entire route is (vaguely) paved roads! Allowing for sleeping, food, fueling up, and CONSTANT bike repairs... I reckon we could get there in a couple of months Getting a visa for Russia right now might be a tad tricky though. Guess we could stick them on a plane between the Ukraine and Kazakhstan. But on the bright side, the closer we get the easier it'll be to find parts for the bikes; once we hit China itself we'll be finding them scattered over the roads from when they fell off another bike After we've torched the place (and mine and Glorian's bikes) it's 4 hours on the train to Qindao, then we should be able to get a boat to Taiwan and pay a visit to Sanmin District in Kaohsiung City to load Soll's bike with grenades, fit stabilisers, cable tie the throttle wide open and let it loose into the Kymco building.15 hour flight home from Kaohsiung City to London, job's a good 'un!
