Phooey Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 ... Does anyone know where I am likely to find a HT bolt that is 40mm in length, 8mm dia thread and 10mm dia shank? Quote

Stu Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Check eBay I have had loads of bolts off there cheap as chips and fast free post Quote
Phooey Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 Thanks guys but I am looking for a bolt that has a larger shank diameter and a smaller thread diameter. The screwfix link only has threads and shanks that are the same diameter. Quote
NeilM Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Pho. Put the exact specification on mate. If you have a photo stick it up n I'll have a look. Need to know the pitch of the thread etc. Quote
Phooey Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 I don't have a photo Neil. What I am needing is a bolt, well four actually, that bolts my Nissin calipers onto my ZZR600 legs. The thread in the Nissin calipers is 8mm and the whole in the ZZR legs is 10mm. I have used spacers from alluminium to take up the 2mm difference but my garage man who is doing my MOT for me doesn't like it. I know it can't fail the MOT but if I can make it a better job and avoid the packing out with alluminuim sleeves I will. Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Hey Phooooo. If you don't have any luck turning up some bolts, I had some spacers machined from stainless for exactly that purpose for my track bike. Since I've yet to find any calipers that aren't shagged beyond repair and the probability of some turning up are minimal, they are going spare:http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx246/Mr_Fro/Spacer.pngLet me know if they'd fit and I'll have a rummage about - they'd be yours for a mere £6 billion. They look like they would work ... I have alluminium spacer in at the moment but Mr MOT man doesn't like them. Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I have alluminium spacer in at the moment but Mr MOT man doesn't like them.I can't see why he wouldn't like aluminium - the calipers are ali anyway so aslong as the spacers are a snug fit then they'll be dandy. You'd have to go some to shear an 8mm HT bolt...What was the reason he gave? Quote

He would like a 10mm bolt with an 8mm threat on the end.I got the actual MOT next months so I'll see what he does then ... assuming I haven't sorted it by then. Quote
Phooey Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 How about these? Any reason why they wouldn't work?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Socket-Should ... 3f2bdf8c45 Quote
