Glorian Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Riding the bike at the weekend realised how far out my speedo is, riding at what said was 40, was going 50 which is waaaay out. Not quite sure how to calibrate a speedo? I assume there is something on the wheel to adjust and it's a case of. Adjust > ride > adjust > ride. till it's fixed? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 will depend on if its cable or electronic my harley is electronic and the sensor is stuck on brake disc with pickup attached to fork leg Quote
mealexme Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 will depend on if its cable or electronic my harley is electronic and the sensor is stuck on brake disc with pickup attached to fork leg I believe the bike you have, the bandit 600 is cable - changing to electronic on the updated 650 in 2005, but don't quote me on that.I also believe there is no way of adjusting the cable, it may have to be replaced. However if it turns out to be electronic, you can get a speedo healer. The fact that the speedo is so far out is ringing alarm bells in my head that says it may not be the cable thats the issue. Speedos are usually set to show around 10% over your actual speed, so when it says your doing 40mph, you should in fact actually be doing 36mph. I tested this on my old bandit 600s and this was true at an indicated 100mph, my actual speed (verified with GPS over a good few miles) was 90Which brings me on to the next point. How do you know that your actual speed was 50mph? I guess the first thing I would be checking is that each end of the cable is actually screwed in tightly. If its not, it could well be slipping. Also check for kinks in the cable, although if that was the issue I would expect the speedo to jump every now and again Quote
Glorian Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Spoke to a suzuki dealer, they said it's likely the cable, as it's had a newsensor about 5 months ago.. Will look into getting it changed but i'll source the part myself as they quoted £30? na m8. http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/gsf_ ... nky_glide/ £10 on wemoto. Will fit myself i reckon, possibly get it done in a shop as they can then make sure it works Quote
Glorian Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Found this on wemotohttp://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/gsf_ ... nky_glide/Gonna order it and a local garage will install it and test the speedo for £20 Quote
Stu Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 You can do that yourself and save 20 quid Its easy Quote
Glorian Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Fitting i don't mind doing, its just the testing it works on a rolling road makes life a lot easier Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Why use a rolling road when there's a static one outside? Quote
Glorian Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 No way of measuring my speed on the road Quote
