Guest
Hi All I have just purchased my first bike at the ripe old age of 41. Wish I had done it years ago. I am having a problem with my headlight. If I go over about 7000 revs the blue main beam light starts comming on eventually the headlight goes out and the blue main beam indicator comes on as if I am on main beam but I have no headlight. I have tried cleaning all the earth`s. When I remove the bulb from the leans and turn it on I see a small flash in the holder before the light comes on. If I move the cable about leading from the bulb holder the light goes off and on occassionally. I find riding without the small front fairing the light stays on much longer. When I bought the bike I was told the battery would need replacing it does start first time every day but I have ordered a new battery, I have also ordered a new bulb holder. Any advice would be very gratefully recieved as I don`t know much about bikes but just love riding this one.
rennie
electrics are almost impossible to solve long distance!have you got a voltmeter?sounds like it could be overcharging to me, reg/rectifier problem!, is it a honda? check voltage accross battery at tickover, should be 12 to 15v, then increase revs and watch meter should remain roughly within those values. if it's going over 15v or under 12v your reg/rectifier is no good.if that's ok it's a broken or loose connection. houdini
Agree with Rennie, possibly regulator needs replacing.
Guest
Thanks for the advice I have removed the fairing and the light is working perfectly. Can`t see the conecction but it has worked fine for 2 days now. Think it may cause more vibration on the light unit when the fairing is on but not sure. Would it be ok to continue to run with the fairing removed?
