Which chain oil ???

As a newbie I'm trying to get a wide range of advice before I make any decisions .

What chain oil do you all use ?

Any!

They are all better than nothing!

Just ensure that you apply just enough but not too much

Too much and it will fling too little and it will dry quickly

Wax is a bit better as it dries and clings much better

What kinda wax? Where will I get some ? How do you apply it properly ? Lol

SILKOLENE PRO Chain.

These lubes are very sticky & colourless , no fling whatsoever.

Each application of lube lasts me about 200-300 miles before it needs lubing again

(But obviously any brand lube must be used again after it rains!!)

Ive gone through probably 10 different brands of lube and they're mostly crap lol. My gold chain even turns black after 5 miles of riding.

I use muc-off ceramic wet chain lube, Cost a bit more than the normal stuff but so far seems good. I always put my lube on after a quick ride out so the chain is warmed up a little I heard it doesn't just sit on the surface then. How true that is who knows but I ride it all the time so no biggy

Currently using WD40 brand chain lube. Was on offer in asda 2 for 5 quid so thought ID give it ago. Produces very little fling and gear changes feel so much smoother compared to when I was using Castrol racing lube.....probably phycological who knows.

I used the WD40 one before found it wasn't the best, Was ok for the price. But for such a vital function and to help the chain run better (so I don't have to replace for a while!) I thought it worth spending a bit of dosh.

Muc Off endurance chain lube/wax has been amazing for me. One fine layer leaves a bluish hue where it has been sprayed. Seems to last really well...

Oh and it smells like that really nice calpol you had as a kid to make you lap it down and to me it's godly. But this is about chain lube and not potential solvent abuse

I think I use the same one as you fozz, think it might be you who recommended it haha it does have an alluring scent reminds me of bubblegum!

90w gear oil, cheap, sticks and does what it needs to.

Gear oil. It's cheap and it works without the premium of all the marketing bullshit.

Don't over lubricate so it throws it off everywhere and also clean and lube the chain as well regularly as opposed to just continuously lubricating it. You can use and old toothbrush to help if you don't have a chain brush for cleaning.

WD40 stuff. I like their chain cleaner, so figured I might as well use a lube from the same brand. Does the job well, and the chain still looks pretty with it on

Tried Muc-Off stuff originally, wasn't a fan - seemed to need replacing more often than I liked. Also tried some brand X white lube, really didn't like that stuff - worked well but made the chain look bloomin' nasty.
