kickflare Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Hey... I'm having a bit of an issue with getting a jacket that fits me properly.I'm jump straight in and state that I'm female... so I'm pretty sure evvveerrryyyyooonnneee can guess what my issue is. I'm not as big in the hip either... and adjustable jackets make a tiny bit of difference... but i still find the fit is... poor and jacket rides up with just me moving around normally! T.TSuggestions? Or is anyone handy with a sewing machine and knows how to take in a jacket properly? Quote
Arwen Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Don't look at the sizes on bike clothing would be my first recommendation. Just try loads on till you find some that fits comfortably. What particular part of the jacket is not fitting right or its it just the fact it rides up?I have issues with jackets, mostly with the sleeve length. I am rather ample up top and along with wide hips, I usually need a Large/X-Large jacket female specific jacket. Men's jackets are just a complete no unless I want a really ill fitting jacket. It seems to me that the bigger the jacket size, the more length they put on the sleeve. I've simply learned to deal with this by using short gloves tucked into my jacket. Some brands are better than others. The best fitting jacket I have tried is this City Limits one I'm really not sure how it would hold up in a crash, but it done me as pillion for a while. The jacket I now wear is this Halvarssons/Lindstrands one. Appart from the slightly long sleeves, the fit is fantastic. fully adjustable at the hips with velcro, and at the waist with poppers. The only way I have found to completely stop a jacket riding up when moving is to zip it to your trousers. Which is what I do. Halvarssons also do this cool little attachment that allows you to wear their jackets with any trousers with belt loops. - Quote
NeilM Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Just been through all this with Lisa my wife. As already started. Forget all about conventional sizings. She was utterly convinced she was a 12/14 (yes you woman are all alike)Her jacket n trousers were both size 10, which she reckons she hasn't seen in 20 year....lolGo to a decent accessories shop with lots to choose from. Ideally during the week when its less busy.We went down to j and s in Doncaster and to be honest the staff were fantastic. We must have been in 2 hours with lisa trying various styles n sizes. No rushing and honest appraisal. Quote
kickflare Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Jackets don't fit across my built-in air bags and when I go bigger to accommodate the built-in airbag system then i end up with it super baggy around my middle and I can use the sleeves as puppets to amuse the local kids. I do have some hip to me frame... but my jacket keeps riding up when I'm just sat still. Its pretty irritating. Clothing wise... if it wasnt the built-in airbags.. i would be a 14. However... due to the mold i was cast from... i'm having to wear 18-20 tops. I've hunted through all the shops my end, going to Stevenage, St. Albans, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City.Today I managed to fit a... okay-ish jacket. Viper Unisex, riding up issue is still present but its not as bad. I seem destined to wear ill fitting jackets. Quote
raesewell Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Try JTS if you can't get something to fit at JTS then it doesn't exist.http://www.jtsbikerclothing.com/It's worth the ride to try some on. Quote
Bonniebird Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I'm a similar shape to you by the sound of it. Most of my jackets are Triumph (I didn't pay full price for any of them )Consider a longer line jacket with a belt you can tighten. http://www.triumphfactoryoutlet.com/pro ... af677063f1Also, as Arwen said, zip to your trousers Quote
