At some point i want to replace my battery, as mine doesnt hold the best charge these days. Looked on wemoto and there is several varieties. Is there any difference between brands? or is a battery a battery.

Battery Motobatt Sealed High Torque £ 49.00

Battery Nitro £ 29.54

Battery Pattern £ 25.50

Battery Victory - Factory Activated Maintenance Free £ 22.82

Battery Yuasa £ 35.50

Replaced my battery on the R1 with a £30 from the bay.

Will probably last 5+ years and if I still have the bike then, I can spend another £30 on a new battery :)

Don't really see the point of these batteries that cost an arm and a leg...

Motobatt all the way

I have seen people replace cheap batteries once a year!! Sometimes your lucky and it will last a couple of years sometimes more

You won't regret buying a quality one

I replaced with a Motobatt earlier this year as my old one, still OK, but was losing charge if left more than a few days.

It's hard to compare with another brand as I didn't try an equally new different one but it's never missed a beat and the cranking speed on the starter button is leagues ahead of the old one.

In contrast, my cheap one started the other day after a month of not touching it. It was a bit hard and took a bit longer than fully charged, I reckon another week and it wouldn't have had the guts to fire it up.

One of my bikes has a battery of unknown origin but it has survived quite a few extended periods of not being used and forgetting to use my maintenance charger  I would offer to check what make it is so that I can recommend it, but I'd have to dismantle the false tank to get to it and I have better things to do with my lunch break

The other one came with a Yuasa that's shagged, the bike can actually run happily enough with no battery at all but the MOT is soon so I'm giving a Continental battery a try.

I'd say go for the sealed battery - one less thing to check when doing maintenance on the bike, and with a bike like yours or mine that can't be a bad thing  I've been wanting to swap for a sealed one but the only ones available for my bike require modifications to the battery holder :|

Yuasa aren't the best in my opinion - I've had 3 or 4 on the trot that failed to last a year (replaced under warranty). The Current one has lasted a couple of years though. Haven't used any other brands - probably go for a motobatt given the reviews when this one karks it.

another added bonus with the motobatt is that most of them come with 4 battery terminals!

great for adding and extra electricals

not all motobatts have 4 though!!
