tuktuk Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Any tips on this? Ive had to wash mine twice in the last 1000 miles as they smell like my dog pissed in them. Im 99% sure its down to a lack of ventilation but thats obviously set in the design.I have a set of short summer ones which id previously used alot more but theyve never had any odour.Does anyone wear the dainese full metal's? Thinking of buying a pair but reluctant if they are going to end up the same. Quote
Mr Fro Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Not tried the dainese but I highly recommend Racer Hi-Racer (or normal Racer if you like a short cuff).I got my second pair this year - first pair lasted 11 years with a crash half way through. Still use the old ones on track but they look well skanky. Don't smell of piss or anything. Quote
tuktuk Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Definately the long style, I imagine the wrist area is a common casualty in spills. Those Racer gloves look great, need to find somewhere i can try a set on!Might wait till that motorbike show at birmingham and try a few different sets on together. PhatDad Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Save all the silica gel packs you get in packaging etc. Find a airtight container, tubs of quality street etc, and after each non-raining ride stick them all in the gloves and then then put them in the air tight container. Worked with my gloves. Quote
Glorian Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Wash your hands more I find the cheaper gloves are worse for making your hands smell.. bought a £60 pair of leather gloves and no problem the £20 winter ones i bought 2 years back? Awful... Quote
Guest Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 My own view is.. have more than one pair.having just one set of gloves is a little like having only one pair of shoes that you wear day after day. becoming stinky is just part of the territory. It makes sense to me to have more than one pair.. so I can swap over, give them time to dry out and 'air' - so that the actual offender... that little population of bacteria thats feeding off the moisture, oils and skin particles doesn't have time to make a stink. no moisture = no bacteria = no stink. Joeman Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Where are you Tukkers? Can't you sniff him out?? Quote
tuktuk Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Im in Newcastle Fro.After the first time i washed them i started taking that alcohol hand gel amd using it everytime we stopped, still didnt take long to start smelling. These are rst tractech evo, really comfy but theres zero ventilation.Il try out your suggestion phatdad! In future might also look at an 'underglove' if thats a thing, although that might make it worse having another layer, plus less feel, but might stop the piss getting all the way through lol. tuktuk Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Washed these again to put away for winter and realised they are the waterproof version, hence no ventilation. Was filling them with cold water to rinse and thought these hold water very well lol. Quote
