raesewell Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Melanie and I have been aware of Wetherspoons hotels for quite some time now, but never used one.I stayed in my first back in July when I went to Bridgend to pick up the FJR.The hotels have a different entrance to the pub, so you don't have to walk through the pub to check in.This weekend we went to Kings Lynn and Shrewsbury and stayed at the Wetherspoons Hotel in both places and I have nothing but praise for both the standard and quality of the rooms and the friendly helpfulness of the staff. The staff at all of the establishments were genuinely friendly, not the normal McDonalds "have a nice day" friendly. The prices were reasonable we paid £64 for Saturday and £39 for Sunday. So if you are looking for somewhere to stay, include Wetherspoons in your search, you may be pleasantly surprised. bollard Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 sounds good - got to be better than the travelodge experience, trouble with me is that i am a weak person, the beer and food is such good value that i'd end up pigging out and having an uncomfortable bike ride home Quote
NeilM Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Got to be honest. We swear by premier inns. Will try a spoons tho. Quote
raesewell Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Yes, we are Premier Inn regulars too. it's just worth bearing in mind Wetherspoons when you are searching. Quote
Stu Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I didn't even know wetherspoons did rooms thanks for the tip Quote
raesewell Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 It's not all Wetherspoons Stu, there is a list on the website.https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs?type=hotels Quote
Stu Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Yeah I gathered it wasn't as we have 3 here and these don't do it Quote
Adam Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I've spent most of this year in premier inn hotels for work and can't fault them, okay some have been refurbished but the ones that haven't are still good quality. Travelodge can be hit and miss, new ones are good but old ones can be shocking and they only have 13 channels on the tv even in this day and age!I didn't know wetherspoons did hotels either so it's good to know for the future. Arwen Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I've stayed at a few Wetherspoon hotels and have always been impressed by them. They do the same weird, TK Maxx special decorating in the rooms too! And you know exactly what the food is like, which is very helpful if you have been travelling all day. Quote
Fozzie Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I haven't seen a hotel attached to one but did think some of them would make sense as a B&B style thing...Pint of beer and a burger with chips is still a fiver. Can't go wrong with that! Quote
Joeman Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Pint of beer and a burger with chips is still a fiver. Can't go wrong with that!Delivered to your room so you can enjoy it in bed?? Quote
