Guest Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Stu, thanks for your response.Yes I have tried pushing down on the seat and pulling the cable. I don't know if its the cable or the lock mechanism. the cable wont budge at all so how will I know? Quote
Stu Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 it would be hard to say what it is till you get the seat of really! if it was the cable you could have tried poking about with a screwdriver to see if you can release the catch for the seat Quote
Tango Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Maybe Mr Fro is about somewhere......he'll know what to do as he has a similar vintage zx7r...... BTW.....Welcome to TMBF mate........pop over and say hi in the Newbies section when you get chance...... Quote
Tango Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Gonna move this to Pitstop as I think it's more appropriate there...... Quote
oldie59 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Try using something like WD40 with the straw attached, and get the spray as close to the cable/ lock mechanism as possible. Leave it for a few minutes to soak in then it should be possible to turn the key and remove the seat. You might have to repeat the process more than once though before it works. Quote
Mr Fro Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Vintage? Bob you cheeky sod! You can get to the release bar from underneath so you'll have to take the liner out from underneath to get to it. Quote
Tango Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I was talking about the bike Ian.......I would have been talking Veteran if it was referring to your good self...... Quote
