Hello!

my first day on this forum!

the cable under the pillion seat to remove the front seat on my 96 ZX7R is stuck!!

How can I remove the front seat now please?

is it the cable thats stuck or the lock mechanism?


have to tried pushing on the seat whilst pulling your cable?

Yes I have tried pushing down on the seat and pulling the cable.

I don't know if its the cable or the lock mechanism. the cable wont budge at all so how will I know?

it would be hard to say what it is till you get the seat of really!


if it was the cable you could have tried poking about with a screwdriver to see if you can release the catch for the seat

Maybe Mr Fro is about somewhere......he'll know what to do as he has a similar vintage zx7r...... :wink:

Try using something like WD40 with the straw attached, and get the spray as close to the cable/ lock mechanism as possible. Leave it for a few minutes to soak in then it should be possible to turn the key and remove the seat. You might have to repeat the process more than once though before it works.

You can get to the release bar from underneath so you'll have to take the liner out from underneath to get to it.
