onesea Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I work away and often see places posted that are good places to visit by bike, then forget about them....So I started a map... Which if your clever enough can be popped into your SatNav for easy reference..The code was quite simple Red not visited by me Green visited and liked then other colours and simbles started cropping up.. Most have notes to help me remember..The routes are roads I enjoyed or want to go and visit...https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=ziyGwW9BboFc.ke-cTRsli1OY&usp=sharingWhy am I posting this? the reds are slowly turning more green in my area particularly.... I could do with some new places. So I thought others might like or have suggestions... Quote
Remy Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I found a great little biker stop, it's very unusual and set amongst pine and eucalyptus trees. In the summer time there are even hammocks you can lay in! Fantastic riding locally especially up the A49 to the south Shropshire Hills. The food is proper quality, Dom uses his own lamb and pork, breakfasts are superb. Well worth a visit if you are in the area http://domsbikestop.co.uk Quote
Throttled Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Cracking idea. I have lots of suggestions! You should remove the Corrieyairack Pass as it is not a road for vehicles. Much of it is a historical monument as one of the surviving paved parts of General Wades Military roads. It also pretty much impassable on a motorbike. I would suggest you add the following high passes;- Loch Tulla Viewpoint, Glen Coe on the A82- The Rest and be Thankful on the A83 - the Dukes Pass on the A821 out of Aberfoyle- Glen Ogle on the A85 from Lix Toll to Lochearnhead- Carter Bar on the A68 England/Scotland border- Wanlockhead (Scotland's highest village) on the B797 in Dumfriesshire. As for biker stops I would suggest you add- the Green Welly on the A82 at Tyndrum FK20 8RY- the Carbeth Inn G63 9AY on the A809- the Pit Stop Diner on the A814, Arrochar G83 7AB- Ride On Motorcycles, Hillington Industrial Estate, Glasgow G52 4NQ which is new and has a little cafe. Doing the Challenge I was very impressed by- Ei's Bistro at Millenium Motorcycles, St Helens, WA9 5PE- The Pit Stop Diner, Stockton-on-Tees, TS8 3HJ- The Whistle Stop Tea Room, Whitby train station, YO21 1YNAnother high pass on my travels- The Rosedale Chimney Bank, North Yorkshire YO18 8SE Quote
Throttled Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I think the map could become a sticky for everyone to submit suggestions. Quote

Gavalar Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I could add some inside knowledge places on the Isle of Wight. Spent over 20 years there and still have a holiday home 15 minutes walk from 'The Hut' in Colwell bay. Quote
onesea Posted January 1, 2016 Author Posted January 1, 2016 I could add some inside knowledge places on the Isle of Wight. Spent over 20 years there and still have a holiday home 15 minutes walk from 'The Hut' in Colwell bay. Inside knowledge of the IOW always appreciated like an affordable way to get a motorbike there and I bet its not Lymington - Yarmouth!Depending on when you work this group might be good:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1625261391095072/Many are the same as the Coffee morning and its not always weekdays....There have been rides most days over the Christmas Period... CrookzV4 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Finchingfield, Essex is teeming with bikes in the Summer. In terms of businesses there you could name Bosworths Tearooms (lovely people) or The Fox Inn. Quote
