ZED1000 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Hello everyoneI have a little Sinnis Cafe 125cc which has a replica Suzuki GN engine in it. I want to put a kick start on it. Can this engine be converted to have kickstart? On thie sinnis website I looked on the parts diogram and it shows a starter motor but also has a seperate diogram of the kickstart so I am wondering whether this engine can just be changed into a kickstart or even have both? http://www.sinnismotorcycles.com/wp_ord ... ef=K157FMI (this is the diogram list) Edited December 30, 2015 by ZED1000 Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 why would you want to spend a fortune buying and fitting the parts to add a kick start it makes no sense to do so but good luck if you do go for it but by the time you buy all the parts needed your wallet will be a lot lighter Quote
Tango Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I agree with EAB......I think it'll be more hassle than it's worth TBH..... Quote
ZED1000 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 I understand what your saying but I just want to know whether it can be done. Whether that engine can actually fit one on it. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 anything is possible if you have good engineering skills and the machines to help in making the parts but as said its the cost of doing things like this t hat prevent it happening and a small bike doesnt need the extra weight of more cogs springs and shafts it will only make it slower not by much but it will slow it down Quote
ZED1000 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 To me this is more about learning different things about the bike and even if it is to expensive I would still be greatful to know whether this engine actually used to be kick start before it was electric. Quote
Stu Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Your not learning different things about a bike!! It's a pointless task If you want to learn about bikes then learn how engines work and how gearboxes work as well as brakes suspension swingarms wheels and electrics etc If you knew/know how all this works then you would know how a kick-start works and if one can be fitted Quote
ZED1000 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Can the Suzuki GN engine fit a kickstart? (Pls don't reply if you don't know) Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 yes in a one word answer now if you do decide to try it which is what it would appear you are hinting at then please keep us informed of how it goes and costs of doing it,and how many times it takes to get it right, good luck Quote
ZED1000 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Thank you for your kind answer I will let you know how it goes if I get around to doing it. Quote
Joeman Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Can the Suzuki GN engine fit a kickstart? (Pls don't reply if you don't know)Anything is possible with the time, money, and effort...However most things are not worth the time, money, and effort. Quote
Chrissb6 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Hi, kick starts are so yesterday, from an engineering point of view yes it's possible to fit one, but as a learning exercise you would be far better to learn how an electric start system works, how to fault find and maintain it. As other have already pointed out there are far more important maintenance checks to learn to carry out othan than this" in my opinion pointless exercise". Enjoy the tinkering it's fun to learn, stay safe enjoy Quote
Glorian Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Please leave.Just kidding but..Seriously get rid of the sinnis. All that bike got me was debt and a broken arm Quote
ZED1000 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Sorry but seriously sinnis though stay safe man Quote
