I've had my Scrambler over a year now and done 8000 miles on it. At 3300 miles I had to have the front brake disc replaced under warranty for warping, apparently a few other Scrambler owners had the same problem. The dealers also replaced the pads. The front disc is 330mm semi floating with 4 piston Brembo calliper (whatever that is lol).

Now the replaced disc is also starting to pulsate and looks like it will be another warranty claim. I've asked the dealer if he thinks the disc is budget or inferior components but he said not in his opinion (a new one is about £200!).

I am definitely not heavy handed and use mostly gears and engine braking, and am very light on the brakes. Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Warped discs can often be caused by brake calipers not working properly. Next time you ride the bike, when you get off, touch the front discs and see if one is hotter than the other. If it is, you will need to carry out a brake caliper service.

I would get the bike back to the dealer and have them service the calipers or even replace them, it is something that can be done at home but under warrenty why not get them to do it.

As above calipers are usually the reason for warping where one side isnt returning fully for some reason and heating one side of the disc more than the other.

Hi Gill as already said take it back to the shop, it's highly unlikely that you have abused the brakes more than likely that the disc's is not floating. If the calliper had been binding lm sure you would of felt it whilst pushing the bike around.

Thanks all, the disc is being replaced under warranty (again!) and when I feel the disc after riding it is not hot. I have no idea what is causing this as many other Scrambler owners are having the same problem. It's a Brembo disc so if it happened again I wouldn't know what to replace it with?!

There's plenty of good discs available, you need to find out why they are warping.

Sounds like it's Ducati that need to find out why they're warping to me! :D

:stupid:

if its happening to more than you then there is a manufacturing problem somewhere!

maybe they need to think about changing their supplier

Bonniebird had a similar thing with her Bonneville. ......but since we changed the disc to an EBC floating version it's been fine..... 8-)
