nicklucey Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Howdy, Struggling to find a comfortable helmet, the forehead burn I get with my HJC hasn't improved with time, and the only one I can find that seems to be the right shape is an arai axcess 2 Has anyone with an arai shaped head found other brands that are a similar shape bit lower cost? Tried loads on, and now at the point where I would need to travel further afield to try some different brands Quote
Furiae Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Not familliar with either HJC and Arai but is the padding on the front replaceable? if so you can ask the manufacturer for a thinner size of padding and put some kind of gel cushion on. Quote
nicklucey Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Yeah tried that route, it already has the thinnest available for the shell size unfortunately, thanks for the suggestion though Quote
Furiae Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Sorry to hear that. I snot even going a size up a possibility? Quote
nicklucey Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Pretty sure it's shape that's the issue Quote
nicklucey Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 And what's the issue with getting the arai Only the cost, if I can find something similar shape that's a bit more afforable that would be great, if not I'll probably end up buying the arai Quote
Stu Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 what price do you put on your head? I have an Arai chaser and its a great helmet but after 7 years I think I need a new one! it cost me £250 so about £35 a year I can't complain at that The wife has a Axces and that too was £250 and its a really decent helmet Personally I would pay the money you won't regret it Not sure what pricing you have seen but you can get a plain one for £250 and reps for £300 if you are thinking of visiting the NEC bike show you could get one there cheaper too Quote
nicklucey Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Does the extra cash equal extra safety though? Feel like a big part of the cost goes towards the logo. Thanks for the advice though and you're right it's not a huge amount of money to protect your head, it is however just about the right amount to make things a bit tight cash wise on any given month. Stu Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 fit is more important than anything and if the Arai fits right compared to others then yes that extra money is worth it! Arai is a quality brand you aren't just paying for the name Quote

Arai is a quality brand you aren't just paying for the nameI agree strongly with this. I tried getting away with an ill fitting helmet once and it was a real pain - it cut in to my bonce and rattled around - all to save a few quid.If you shop around you can often find last year's model at a decent price. Helmet city and sports bike shop often stick stuff at silly prices to move them on. Quote
mckellar Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I got the axcess 2 helmet for £199.00 last week on a website - firecrest. They have a store about 5 minutes from me and the woman in there did a full fitting for me. An excellent price for that helmet. it should have been nearer £300.00 Quote
