RantMachine Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Saw this idiotic contraption in the Metro this morning:http://www.epa.eu/thumb.php/53088406.jpg?eJwljLEOwjAMRP_l5gxu2oTgtRMSBYkgARNyW6cbA9AJ8e9YYXq6d7r7oAcDDv0V3BhuFYPJ0FJKHUUr9zuwNxxM62O5ry8xm6vMdtAZhjrMZ_D7uarD5V-fwInI4WgRbUhFREWnUXQzeb-NzRxiHMmX2RfF9wdKxCMohttp://www.epa.eu/science-photos/curiosities-technology-general-engineering-photos/iena-2016-invention-trade-fair-photos-53088406At least all those industrial design students we get on here take the time to ask prospective users if their ideas are any good... this bloke clearly just had the idea and ran with it Can't believe Metro even thought it was worth giving space to, must be a slow news day... But then, this is the same paper that recommends 25% stakes in £600,000 leaseholds as being ideal for first time buyers, so I guess they're sufficiently disconnected from reality to think that this thing was a good idea Quote
bonio Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 The inventor of a rain wiper for motorcycle helmets, Albert Keller, presents his invention in Nuremberg, Germany, 25 October 2016. The propeller, attached via suction cup, creates a stream of air during the ride that prevents raindrops from landing on the helmet's visor. So, even assuming this crackpot idea worked, the idea is to make it easier to see by sticking a whacking suction cup on your visor and blocking your line of sight with a propeller? Vorsprung durch Technik?? Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Although... Not too dissimilar to the screens used on trawlers! Quote
Gin Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I'm disappointed there's no mention of a dyno or resistance motor inside the bearing to allow the collection of this energy for something, say charging your phone etc. You'll have to excuse me if I'm making f**k all sense, Jay's given me his cold and I feel like I'm trying to think through custard. Guest Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I prefere my design for keeping rain off my visor, don't go out in the rain Quote
