Fatsam Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Hi all, we have a rear shock issue on my wife's Ninja 250r. Even on the lowest notch on the adjuster it's still as rigid and kills your backside over the bumps. Any suggestions? Quote
Stu Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Hi and welcome to the forum I have moved the thread to a more appropriate section Kawasaki shocks are known to be hard even on the softest settings! have you also checked the damping settings on the shock? having them wound in too much will have the same feel failing that its a new softer spring or new shock Quote
Fatsam Posted December 3, 2016 Author Posted December 3, 2016 Thanks for the welcome Stu, it doesn't appear to have a damper adjuster, just a straight shock, looks like a new one then. Quote
Stu Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 These are well worth a look http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172294465689?clk_rvr_id=1133764982284&rmvSB=true Quote
Fatsam Posted December 3, 2016 Author Posted December 3, 2016 Limited on funds what with Xmas, can anything be done to old one? Not familiar with this stuff Quote
Stu Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 the only thing you could do is swap the spring for a softer one probably about £80 for the spring but if you haven't got the gear to change the spring then you will have to get someone to swap it for you which is more wonga! The advantage of a new shock is it will also be an upgrade to the stock shock I would also check out the suspension linkage to make sure its all nice and free and not seized causing the problem Quote
Fatsam Posted December 3, 2016 Author Posted December 3, 2016 Also had new rear disc and pads, how long before they bed in? It's like there's no brake at all at moment. Quote
Stu Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Did you clean them all up before fitting? sometimes they have a coating of oil on the disc that needs to be cleaned off Usually a few hundred miles is sufficient Quote
cockercas Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Adjust the compression. Compression is the initial bump. Quote
