How, what, why?.............

Obviously wrong to make judgement as we are not privvy to the evidence and it is still early days, but these are the sorts of crashes I used to hate dealing with, just on the basis that it probably could have and should have been avoided.

Im pretty sure I know what happened , I'd bet good money the 89 year old drivers car was an automatic and he's hit the throttle instead if the brake ... this happens a lot with these coffin Dodgers who insist on still driving when they really shouldn't be.

There really should be an upper age limit for drivers......which would be easier to implement if we had a better and more affordable public transport system......

Not sure about an upper limit but maybe a retest. After all there are some young people who should not be driving.

Well you live and learn. I thought over 70s had to sit a retest every few years - never knew it was just a free application to renew licences.

It aint going to happen.

The idea of a retest was looked at a few years ago, I was one of a number of advanced examiners who was approched and asked if I would examine re-tests and then it got dropped quickly and quietly for political reasons.

I sit on a number of road safety committees and so I have asked the question at parliamentary level whether the idea of retesting will be considered in the future and I have been overwhelmed by the deafening silence and then a curt "No"!

It will not happen.......
