Mkdonian Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Hi newbie here, Got a ybr yesterday and took her out for a little ride today, getting into 3rd and there was a whining noise when I pulled the throttle back. Can someone tell me if this is normal or signs of a gearbox problem? Cheers Quote
fastbob Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 The first thing I would do before jumping to any conclusions is an oil and filter change regardless of anything the previous owner has told you. It might just be thinned out or broken down oil. What's the mileage? Quote
Mkdonian Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 It's had an engine change and this one has done a total of 18,000 Quote
TimR Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Lube/adjust the chain would be my first thought Quote
Mkdonian Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 Took it out again earlier and when I got back I noticed the the chain is rubbing on the centre stand. I know this is not the cause of the noise but could relate to the chain in need of adjustment. Just baffles me why it onluly happens in 3rd! Not really liking the bike anyway so as soon as I get the v5 it might be going up for sale. Just wish I had the money to do my big boy licence. Quote
