Godwin Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Hey guys,Planning on going for my bike licences, however I have learnt that my age restricts the access I have to certain categories of cc's. I am 18 and wanting to go for my A1 as that is all I can achieve for my age. I understand the process from the start of the CBT right through to the A1.But what I don't understand is, do I have to take my CBT every 2 years even though I would have my A1? If I am having to pay £120 every two years of my life to just be riding a bike then I am most definetly not considering it. At what stage do you stop taking your CBT? Or do you never stop?Thankyou Quote
Guest Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Once you've got your A1 you can: Take off your L plates. Ride on motorways. Carry a pillion passenger. Only ride an engine size up to 125cc (no faster than 60mph) a power output of up to 11kW and a power to weight ratio no more than 0.1kW/kg.And I'm fairly certain that you won't need to keep redoing your CBT. Arwen Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Once you have a full licence ( A, A2 or A1) then you no longer need to resit a CBT every two years. Quote
Westbeef Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 You wont need to redo a CBT,however if you plan on going to A2 at 19 then doing an A1 is totally pointless in my opinion. Quote
bonio Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I'd have thought your best off doing your CBT and doing your A2 test once you're 19 but before the two-year CBT window runs out. Seems to me that you don't get any benefit from doing the A1 test as well. Quote
rennie Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 every 2 years! We're about to go and re-do Sue's for the 4th time! Quote
